December 2, 2006 - The Kwajalein Christmas season was kicked off with the 39th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Claus arrived at the airport via a Metroliner around 5:15 PM, greeted the kids with a bunch of candy, and paraded through town on the Santa Mobile to the ceremony at the Yuk Club. Music and dance were provided by the Jr./Sr. High School Band, Brady Dance Troupe, Girl Scouts, Aloha Hula Keikis, and the Filipino Civic Club Dancers. The tree lighting was followed by the downtown Winterfest. Adults were treated to shopping, food and drinks (free wine tasting, margaritas, quesadillas, and chips and salsa) while the kids mostly stayed out of trouble with games sponsored by Youth Services.

Mr. and Mrs. Claus were greeted by COL Stevenson Reed (USAKA Commander), John Pickler (KRS President), and Simone Smead (Director, Community Activities) after flying in on the Metroliner. The Ohlers Mr. and Mrs. Claus handed candy out to the kids.
