We were walking around, looking at the stars, when a cat came up to us. It was a very friendly cat and we petted it for a while. As we walked away, it sprang on the back of Val's leg, sinking it's top and bottom teeth into her. The bite was bleeding pretty badly and the island's nurse had us bumped onto the first available flight back to Kwajalein the next morning. Val went to see a doctor who put her on antibiotics. Thankfully, the bite never became infected. Lesson learned: Stay away from stray cats!!
