This was the island's
7th Kaleidoscope of Music (my 4th, and probably the last) -
a fundraiser organized by the Yokwe Yuk Women's Club (YYWC)
that showcases many of Kwajalein's musically talented residents.
The Kwajalein Saxophone Ensemble is part of the Community Band
and performed It Don't Mean a Thing (Duke Ellington), Little
Brown Jug (Glenn Miller), and Cool Saints.
I apologize for the flickering found in the video clips; the
bright red tie die shirts played havoc with my camera's auto-white
balance.

by the Yokwe Yuk Women's Club (YYWC) that showcases many of
Kwajalein's musically talented residents. Two shows were performed
this year by forty one musicians with proceeds benefiting the
Kwajalein High School Scholarship Fund. The Kwajalein Saxophone
Ensemble is part of the Community Band and performed Night Train
(Jimmy Forest), Satin Doll (Duke Ellington and Michael Sweeney),
and Zoot Suit Riot (Michael Sweeny).

Quintet Ensemble is part of the Community Band and performed
Jamaican Farewell (Jerry Nowak) and Satin Doll (Duke Ellington
and Michael Sweeney). This year's performance marks the introduction
of a rhythm section accompaniment. Take a gander at the video
clips below and enjoy the sweet sounds of Kwajalein's "saxiest"
beasts!

The Kwajalein Saxophone Quintet, of which I'm a member of, is
part of the Community Band and performed a Glenn Miller tribute.
Below are links to video clips from
Kwajalein's New Year's Eve 2003 Music Night. The five saxophone
players from the community band were asked to perform a few
pieces, including the Hallelujah Chorus, by Handel, and the
traditional Auld Lang Syne. The video clips require Window Media
Player to play properly.
