Days 7 and 8: With no scheduled activities, our time in Queenstown was more laid back than the rest of the tour. We slept in a bit, walked around town, and eventually met the group at the top of Bob's Peak to try out the luge run, which was a lot of fun and offered a fantastic view of Lake Wakatipu and The Remarkables mountain range. For those who are more adventurous, there are plenty of thrilling activities available in the area, such as hang gliding, whitewater rafting, jet boating, skydiving, and bungy-jumping.
We all had dinner at this awesome steak house on our first night in town. Guinness-staches This was the view from our hotel room (sweeeet). Downtown Queenstown
Downtown Queenstown Lake Wakatipu This statue is of a moa - a giant, flightless New Zealand bird that was hunted to extinction in the early 16th century. They weighted up to 550 lbs (250 kg) and could be 10 ft (3 m) tall! Their size, and lack of natural predators, made it easy prey for early human settlers.
The gondola ride up to Bob's Peak, overlooking the town I'm sorry, who's number one?
An extra chairlift takes you even higher up the peak to a cool luge track. An extra chairlift takes you even higher up the peak to a cool luge track. View of Lake Wakatipu from Bob's Peak
